The hardware I use to interface between the Macbook USB and the Sprinter ODB port is this VXDIAG VCX SE (which honestly is overkill). I've also used an Openport 2.0 device and that has worked too. I purchased the VXDIAG VCX since it supported DoIP.

I have a vxdiag se benz vci, it is quite stable and it emulates the original probe, be careful not from Kline, for the doip no test yet, and the passthru is ok.

I've been using the VCxSE for almost 2 months. Can't say anything bad

I've been using this unit for over a year and it runs great with the original MB software. It runs stably with both Xentry (diagnostics) and DTSmonaco (coding, flashing).
It runs with older vehicles. (CAESAR, i.e. cbf files) not quite as stable as in MVCI mode (smrd).
The C6 mode is great, the PT mode is not quite as stable, but usable.
I bought it in addition to the C4 because it's easy to use.
It's a bit slower than the C4 when it comes to flashing and of course it can't support a K-Line and doesn't support the 38-pin either.
So I recommend it for W212 and newer.
It can do both: VCI operation (C6 mode for OpenShell) and J2534 (for PassThru).
In both modes it also supports DoIP.
I'm very satisfied.

i have VXdiag for merc and just added to it JLR licenses, it's basically just matter of the drivers/fiirmware for various diag softwares.

I bought VX diag se mercedes and activated all licenses. The first connection with vag software 7.2.1 on audi a6 c6 is successful, it sees all blocks. With version 7.2.1 goes online, removes CP. It was also possible to encode bmw via usb and wifi without any problems.

I can recommend is the VXDIAG SE for BENZ which also supports DOIP. I have been using this now for a while and it is really useful as it also works in C6 mode. That makes it useful for DTS Monaco to work with CBF and SMR-D files.

VXDIAG works perfect with Xentry XDOS (VXDIAG works in C6 mode for XDOS and in J2534 mode for PT) for cars after 2005-2006. I have one and use it regularily with Xentry and DTS for CBF and SMR-D. Also have the C3 and the C4. I prefer to use the VXDIAG above the C4... why? It just works! No boot time, no bulky interface and no annoying long cables.
